Lyon league leaders as Schelin scores 100th Division 1 goal
Olympique Lyonnais today defeated newly promoted FC Metz 15-0 with goals by as many as ten different goalscorers. Once again, Lotta Schelin opened the scoring and before the first half hour had passed, she had scored both a hat trick and her 100th goal in Division 1. Wendie Renard, Louisa Necib, Lara Dickenmann, Amel Majri and Ada Hegerberg all added to her goals, making the half time score 8-0 in Lyon’s favour.
In the second half, Ada Hegerberg completed her first hat trick for Lyon as Eugénie Le Sommer scored a brace, and Camille Abily, Amandine Henry and Elodie Thomis got one goal each. The final result meant the team had broken yet another record - the record of most goals scored in a match in Division 1.
Lyon are now the league leaders in Division 1 after just two rounds with a goal difference of +18, which is ten more goals than second-placed Paris Saint-Germain. They will next face Montpellier HSC on September 21 after the international break where the European contenders for the 2015 World Cup will be decided.
